Already observable in the first quarter of 2010, the upturn in incoming orders over the previous year was reconfirmed in Q2/2010 and emphasized by a contract to supply the transmissions for the German PUMA infantry fighting vehicle. The evacuation of the gear unit casing on high-capacity gears continues to be successful

In 1995, the RENK-MAAG GmbH (at former times MAAG Gear Systems), located in Winterthur, patented and supplied as first worldwide gear manufacturer a gas turbine load gear with evacuated internal casing. In 2001, a somewhat different solution of RENK AG in Augsburg fol-low-ed. In the meantime the vacuum operation on load gears of power classes of more than 60 MW has made its way. Fiscal 2008 was another very good period in the 135-year history of RENK. The key indicators improved appreciably. Driven by a 22-percent sales increase from €430 million to €527 million, operating profit climbed 18 percent to a record €80 million. By concluding a frame contract with the wind energy plant manufacturer MULTIBRID in Bremerhaven RENK AG gets deeper into the business with wind power gear units. At RENK AG, gear units for onshore wind energy plants with a power range from 1.5 to 2 MW have been manufactured so far.

The Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB) in mid-2007 placed an order for the construction of four Class 125 frigates. The contract was awarded to ARGE F125, an industrial consortium formed by Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems and Fr. Lürssen Werft. The acceptance of the first ship is scheduled for the year 2014. more
